“My client and I both love Sabrina Carpenter and her hair color is absolutely gorgeous—she was the inspiration photo,” says Brymer. “My client likes the butter blonde tones, so I tried my best to get her hair color as close as possible to that.”
Brymer’s advice for beauty professionals who want to replicate this buttercream blonde hair look? “I lifted my client to a level 9/10. I wanted to lift out as much unwanted warmth as possible to achieve the super bright creamy tones instead of the brassy tones,” explains Brymer. “I did a high-impact highlight, so I also did babylights all over and packed them in closely for maximum coverage. I used the Keratin Complex KeraLuminous® Permanent Color 9GV and 9N to slightly neutralize some unwanted warmth, but also add the slight amount of buttery tones that my client wanted.”

Model: Starting with natural level 7 hair and level 9 full highlights
Hair Color Step-by-Step:
- Section the head into four sections. Starting at the nape of the neck, take a
1⁄2-inch diagonal parting and, using a rattail comb, weave the diagonal section. Apply Formula A through the weaved portion of the subsection. - Next, apply Formula B through the remainder of the diagonal parting. Comb through the entire subsection to blend and feather formulas at the base and ensure proper absorption through the mid-shafts and ends.
- Continue this weave technique through the entire section. Repeat this technique through the remaining sections.
- Process for 35 minutes.
- Rinse well, then shampoo and condition.
